Do you feel you have power like the "Colbert bump"? I find it interesting that you post a chart, and without explicitly saying where I Love Charts stands, you can influence the chart. By the time I got to the Family Values chart on my dashboard and went to Like the Family Equality Council page, it already had 3751 likes. Thanks for bring attention to those things we need to know. First blog I followed on tumblr!
I do feel like we are able to do that, which is a testament to how awesome you guys are. Analytics and anecdotal evidence tells me that you guys click through links, read, investigate, research and share things, all of which makes this blog a pleasure to run. It’s a conversation.
We receive charts from all over the place and it exposes up to a lot of things about which we would otherwise be ignorent. We “bump” things we find important and let the conversation continue. There are frequent submitters, who have been sending us charts for years, who have influenced the way I view the world in innumerable ways, with whom I have never spoken and whose names I don’t even know, but whose pictures I get excited to see in our inbox. I love that.
I don’t know, maybe it’s the approaching equinox, but I’ve been feeling especially ardent toward Tumblr (metonymically speaking) lately. Community is a pretty nice thing sometimes.
Also, how could we not love the Family Equality Council? In addition to being on the right side of history, their logo is a friggin’ Venn Diagram!
