I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love that David Karp wrote the foreward for your book. Can't wait to read it!
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love David’s foreword. It is a very special piece of writing to me. He was the first person to read the final manuscript other than Cody, myself and our editor and I was a nervous wreck waiting to hear back from him. The book takes some risks and I had no idea if they worked as I had intended.
I’m still worried. We put a lot of ourselves in this book and as much as I want to be like “forget the audience, forget the critics, this is my art and I know it’s good, blah blah,” I feel generally pretty vulnerable.
When David finally sent back his foreword, I stared at the unread message for a good five minutes, gulped and opened the email. Reading it, I won’ t lie … I got a little misty. He got it! At least for one person, the book worked — beyond that, a person I hold in extremely high regard. The book felt real for the first time.
His foreword is as thoughtful and gracious as I’ve always found him to be in person and yeah, thank you David.
