Regarding the ice cream sales/violent crime correlation: this graph is humorous because in the graph right before it, it talks about how people who make graphs rarely know that correlation does not imply causation, and to provide an example they provided a graph that seems like the two variables are related, when in actuality there is insufficient data for the chart to be significant.
